General principles of magnetic resonance
- The more accurately the request form is filled in, and the greater the detail given on the form and specification of the clinic’s requirement, the more complete and detailed may be the MR examination and its conclusion!
- Please send the patient for the MR examination with all available previous X-ray, CT and MR documentation (not only analyses) and results of examinations previously performed
- The area of the stomach and certain pathological states of the skeleton tend to be the domain of the CT, but not always – it is better to discuss special indications directly at the MR site with a doctor
- For an MR examination it is absolutely essential that the patient remain completely still for the duration of the examination (20 to 40 minutes).
- The doctor of the magnetic resonance workplace will always designate the precise method and means of the investigation (including application of contrast agent) after an analysis of the clinical and case history data and also in the course of the examination depending on the results of the initial sequence of investigations.
Recommended expert opinion for examination of patients with fixed orthodontic apparatus by MR
